For those that have been watching the Website since its launch in March 2010  you would have noticed that our Product Range has increased, Maybe not in actual stock numbers but in variety.

We take time to constantly update the website so that when you pay a visit, what is shown is actually in stock, sometimes if it is out of stock we can actually source it within 24 hours so don't be afraid of sending an email to us asking of availability. We update the Data Base every day.

2nd Sept 2010 Bolle New Eye Protection for Airsofters

Bolle approached us to test their new  Eye Protection named Cobra, what better way than to have them tested to the max than by asking one of our customers to do it. AdeUK has submitted an excellent Review including a video of a point blank shot test on the lens. The full Review can be seen on our News Page, Facebook Discussion Area and below.

The Review was submitted to Bolle and received a most excellent response. Where there was a minor concern regarding the Nose Clips easily being lost due to rough handling, Bolle has taken this on board, listened to the expert and implemented a new design modification that will ensure no loss of the Nose Clip.

Pricing is still to be decided but we already know that these are going to be popular amongst Players and Marshals alike as they offer what we now consider the best Eye Protection around that includes the all important BS Standard.

We will be adding a Bolle Category where you can initially place a Pre-Order to ensure that you are one of the first to get the Cobra Airsoft Safety Glasses Kit before they go on General Release.

Bolle Cobra Safety Glasses (Airsoft Kit)

Bolle and Jason from Circuit Airsoft have been working together to create an effective, versatile and value for money eye protection package and I was honoured to be asked by Jason to test the product pending its being offered for sale.

Much sooner than I expected, I received a plain box containing various pairs of glasses and goodies. The box contained a foam frame, a couple of sets of arms, an adjustable headband, pouches, an amber smoke lens (COBPSJ), a standard clear lens (COBPSI) and another type of clear lens (COBHDPI). Obviously this does not truly represent the kit that will reach the shelves, but it gave me enough to be able to give some feedback as to the systems suitability for airsoft.

It is subject to change, but the planned package is intended to include the following:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

As you see, I cannot comment on retail packaging of the kit. However, each pair was packaged in its own bag with an information document, micro fibre bag and either standard arms or the foam frame and headband, so it appears that individual items will be available if you want to replace parts of your kit.

Investigating the various sets, it was immediately apparent at how easy it was going to be to swap between different lenses and attachments. It is a truly modular system and takes seconds to swap parts. All of the lenses fit both the arms and the headband using the same method. I did find that when switching from the “glasses” configuration to the “goggles” with the headband, you need to remove the arms and then fit the foam before fitting the headband as the clip that attaches the headband (or arms) to the lens also secures the foam frame at the temple of the lens. The arms and headband do not just rely on a friction fit, there is a small pin on the attachment points that passes through a hole in the lens. The attachment point seems like it will take a lot of abuse which will be a welcome change to the glasses I currently use and which are always breaking at the mounting lugs

When fitted, everything was extremely secure. No arms falling off during play with this kit!

Initially, I thought the nose piece was merely a moulded part of the lens. In fact there are soft rubber inserts fitted on each side, and these are removable for cleaning/replacement. However, I found that the nose clips can be lost quite easily. They don’t simply fall off, but because they are a soft “tacky” rubber, they can easily catch on the case/kit/gloves and are very difficult to find. This was conveyed to Bolle who have confirmed that the nose clips of new batches will be glued to the lens to prevent losses. Impressive!

The lenses themselves seem very solid, but weigh next to nothing. They sport that all important CE marking. The lenses that will be supplied with the kit will have “anti scratch” and “anti fog” coatings. The “HD” lens I received is apparently not anti fog, but “is a new lens that is water repellent and allows more visible light through to the eye”. The lenses are quite large, so should protect a large surface area.

The adjustable head band is pretty straight forward. Wide enough to be comfortable, but not so bulky as to get caught up in head gear.

The arms are very light, slim and strong. They can be bent to shape, but it takes some force. They have a tacky rubber type insert near the ends to help them grip above the ears. They should be fine to wear with headsets, helmets etc.

The comfort foam frame is a work of art and very clever. It is very soft foam with a plastic frame that clips to the lens. It has a very low profile so it hardly affects peripheral vision and should be great with scopes that have little eye relief. Finally a pair of goggles with lenses that can be changed in seconds

The micro fibre bags are just that. I assumed they are also for cleaning the lenses, and used them for that purpose throughout the testing

PROTECTION

However good they look, their first job is to protect your eyes. These are CE tested and the technical data indicates they can withstand impacts at 120m/s, though I do not know what weight the object would be; knowing the energy they could withstand would be more helpful.

Only one thing for it then; take a shot at them!

Knowing we can meet a hot gun from time to time, and appreciating that 500fps sniper rifles should have a minimum engagement distance, I settled on upping a spring in one of my PDWs to give an FPS of 380fps. I took a shot at about 4cm distance using a .2g 6mm BB. I used the HD lens. Not entirely scientific, but it’s all I can do.

It Passed this test. There was small opaque mark left which would affect vision through the lens, but there was no penetration and the lens had not cracked

IN THE FIELD

I mainly used the amber lens with a set of arms for a days skirmishing. It was hot and humid with an occasional light breeze. The first thing I noticed was the clarity of the lens. No distortion and crystal clear. Other glasses I’ve used seem to require an acclimatisation period when they are first put on. Not so with these. These were completely comfortable all day and you barley notice they are there. They never moved or slipped and coped perfectly with being thrown in pouches, being sat on (once) and did not break when I caught one of the arms in my sling which bent it back almost 90 degrees

Fogging is always a problem with glasses, and I seem to suffer more than most. When the action and I heated up, I did get some fogging, but it would clear pretty quickly and never left me completely blind. If there was any breeze at all, misting was not a problem. I don’t think any glasses/goggles will ever be able to completely eradicate fogging, but these were certainly the best I have ever used.

I took quite a few face shots during the day, and have the welts to prove it. The glasses took a lot of direct hits, two from no more than about 4m. The lenses are still completely unmarked after a heavy days skirmishing.

I do not generally use goggles, so I thought it would be more appropriate to enlist the help of a player that did and I’d thank Dan for volunteering. He loved them! I checked with him after his first game and he was more than happy to carry on using them for the rest of the day. He remarked on their clarity, low profile, comfort and anti fogging capabilities. To put it simply, he will be buying a set when they are released.

CONCLUSION

I was going to list the Pros and Cons, but I really can’t think of any cons. The price of the kit is yet to be determined, but I understand it is hoped that it should be in the region of £35. At that price, or even slightly more, these are steal.

Top quality protection, comfort, very good anti fogging and true versatility at a very reasonable price make this kit a winner

It’s good to hear that newcomers Circuit Airsoft are doing well and have been able to expand their product range:

We are pleased to anounce that an affiliation between Ciruit-Airsoft and Creation Air Soft has been made over the weekend. Creation Air Soft Manufacture Custom Pistol Slides, Frames, Acceosories and OEM RC Parts.

Tactical Training Solutions have just advised us that they are to hold a Tactical Marksmanship Seminar on 29th May 2010 and Areana Airsoft, Limited to 12 with a great cost of £35ea. The Seminar will cover essential weapon handling skilss for both pistol and rifle applicable to the CQB enviroment, Students will cover a range of skills and drills that will actively lift their Game. This will be a skills based class involving a lot of shooting. A skirmish will be held at the end of the seminar.

Students should bring with them an AEG or GBB Rifle, Pistol, Optics and laser of in possesion, Holsters etc, For those that dont have an AEG, weapons will be abvailable.
